Solo and Ensemble Reflection

 1. I learned that you need to over practice. Even if you think that you have the whole thing figured out, you have to keep polishing it.  2. I was able to practice staccatos and stuff. I also improved on my musicality by using dynamic expression. I learned how to play for a judge. 3. I enjoyed this experience. It was a good way to help me in multiple areas of my musicality. The piece pushed me to try new things. The judge also gave helpful feedback and helped me improve.

Christmas Performance Reflection

The atmosphere was different from the fall concert for several reasons. The acoustics were a lot different since we were not outside. It was still difficult to hear each other though. I felt very prepared for this performance. My favorite part was when we played pat a pan and got our entrances correct. I feel like I learned to blend with others in our section. Also articulation was need to get all of our parts right.
10/6 Concert Reflection I enjoyed playing jump in the line the most. It was fun to play and the trumpets sounded really good. Things most important to a concert is not only notes but things like dynamics and phrasing too. If we don't have every aspect good, the song isn't great. I feel like I was well prepared for this performance. I feel I did a good job on all of my parts including marimba. I think I could have improved on the transition from marimba to trumpet. I think for Christmas and veterans day I will practice about the same amount. I don't think our performance was honoring to God. Not everyone did their best, which is what God calls us to do. If you are doing something, do it to the best of your ability.
1. I've practiced every single day since the assignment was given except for one. 2. I've improved in tone, articulation, and dynamics. 3. There is always more room for improvement in many areas. 4. If you don't practice you won't get any better. If you are consistently practicing, things will come easier and you'll enjoy it more.

Ryan's Top Five Song List

Top Five Song List August 16, 2022 *disclaimer; these songs are in no particular order and these are not all always on my top 5 list* 1. Anomalie: Dream Scenes-   This song is really cool to me because the only instrument used is a keyboard. (It has several different sounds along with it.) I love how much dynamics are used and how it makes the piece so expressive. It is sounds sort of like an orchestral piece but it's obviously not. Link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY725L8mqKc 2. Hans Zimmer: Up is Down-   I like this song so much because it's one of my favorite movie soundtrack songs. I got to hear it performed by a brass band in-person, and it was a super cool experience. I love how all the parts come together and make it sound so cool. Since this song is from Pirates of the Caribbean , it has certain elements that sound like a sea shanty.
