Ryan's Top Five Song List

Top Five Song List

August 16, 2022

*disclaimer; these songs are in no particular order and these are not all always on my top 5 list*

1. Anomalie: Dream Scenes-  This song is really cool to me because the only instrument used is a keyboard. (It has several different sounds along with it.) I love how much dynamics are used and how it makes the piece so expressive. It is sounds sort of like an orchestral piece but it's obviously not. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY725L8mqKc

2. Hans Zimmer: Up is Down-  I like this song so much because it's one of my favorite movie soundtrack songs. I got to hear it performed by a brass band in-person, and it was a super cool experience. I love how all the parts come together and make it sound so cool. Since this song is from Pirates of the Caribbean, it has certain elements that sound like a sea shanty. 3. El Camino Real by Alfred Reed-  This song is important to me because it got me motivated to start playing trumpet more seriously. It was one of the songs for all county, and it was one of the most difficult. In the end, the piece came together and sounded really good. It had really intense, fast, and interesting parts, but also portions of slower and more expressive sections. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uid4U0VyKqg

4. Anomalie: Epilogue-  This song is just a combination of a couple really cool things. It is mostly just a piano, and it is really expressive. The song also uses a lot of jazz chords and it is kind of just a short ending to a really good album. Epilogue means a short ending to something; sort of like a closing statement or  conclusion so it is a fitting name for the piece. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQu4TtMc3O0

5. Anomalie: Dribble-  The last one was tough because there are plenty of other good songs that I could have chosen, but I chose this one because of how its like a jazz piece but also just like a pop song. The beat is really cool because the rhythm is harder than most to follow. It also has really cool parts where most of the parts die down a little and its quieter but there are some really cool chord progressions and melodies throughout.
